Last evening we arrive home from the city to find a murder of crows hanging out in our backyard trees. Now this isn’t exactly unusual, but what is strange is that they didn’t immediately take off. I went back where the commotion was and discovered a dead crow lying face down on the ground. Thought he must have hit the living room window and broke his neck, though this would be a hard feat due to the close tree line. No biggie. Went to get the shovel, came back, and flipped him over. Suddenly the cause of death was very apparent. He had a broken off tree branch right threw his chest! Shocked We figure he must have come in for a landing too hot and impaled himself on a tree. Never seen anything like it. Come to think of it, I've never seen a dead crow before…hope it’s not a bad omen... What a Face

I wish I would have taken a picture. I wanted too, but hubby was like, who takes a picture of a dead crow? Rolling Eyes I'm sure the coons and skunks cleaned him up in the night, dang it...

For the record, I would take pictures of dead crows, ones that died like that at least.

Maybe it was something like a fight (like roosters?) and got kicked back onto a spiky branch. I don't even know if crows fight, I've never asked one before.

Natural selection at its finest! Not the smartest crow, perhaps ...

That's how the evil crows always die in the movies.

That is bizzare, usually crows are smarter than that

Wow, that is strange! People do stupid things like that all the time but you wouldn't expect a bird to make such a fatal mistake! Maybe a pretty female crow caught his eye and he was attempting a tricky, high speed landing to impress her... I love you
