Oh my, what a sight!! It reminds me of my bucket o' chics, only about 10 times darker. Your blues are deeper and your yellows are bordering orange, oh man, oh man, now that was just something so beautiful to see, first thing this morning. Those are just the most intense colours!! Define breeds and colours please, or are these the new breed you are working on. I know there are blues there, that is clear to see, but what??? Wonder why your blue chicks' down is such a dark blue compared to my light blue, of course breed, but the end result? REALLY dark blue laced black? Nice, thanks for sharing. Hey coopie, what do you call that tub o'chicks??

Well, where did Coopslave go anyways, smiling. Tara your tub of quackers is beautiful too, just something about little ones, no matter the species. Thanks for the blue dilution lesson, so cool. I used to love watching the muscovy ducklings hatch when we incubated them, they were so incredible how they had fit into that little egg and came out so big. I think ducks are much more cuter than chicks even when they hatch. Have an awesome day, CynthiaM.

The chipmunk chicks are PChants, all the blues are Coopers, the Splash are Marans and the one lone black is a very special project that I am not ready to talk about yet.

CynthiaM, some of the blues are VERY dark chick down. They are also marked very differently. Some are all blue and some are the little peguin type blues. This is very interesting to me and I look forward to seeing them feathered out. When you start crossing you always have some interesting stuff until it is more stable.

The Blue Marans that were introduced this year are very dark blue (well the rooster is Splash, but you know what I mean).

These genetics may be where the dark chick down is coming from.
