Your Cochin make me drool, Kathy! How do you find their size compared to some of those giant blacks out there?

Pretty darn nice Kathy. Look at the fluff on the cochins. Why do the hens always have their faces down and the butt up? Show off I guess. That rooster looks pretty fluffy, doncha love the cochins? The buff dude looks pretty darn good too, lots of fluff there too!! Have an awesome day, CynthiaM.

Thanks, Sue Smile
Those huge black cochins are impressive! Unfortunately they haven't been making an appearance at the shows Ive been to lately. I caught a glimps of one in 2011 as he was being packaged up for the buyer and he was MASSIVE! It would be nice to see more Cochins at the shows for comparison.

Ive been doing lots of looking and it seems most of the Blues are trailing a bit behind some of the other varieties in the weight department. I do keep seeing improvement in weights each year in my flock, so that is encouraging althoug still not quite where I want them to be. I'll just keep plugging away!

I think your 2011 rooster was one I bought! His son is even larger.

I love the blues more than the blacks. I am hoping to put some size into them by using the blacks. It should be an interesting project.

Oh? cool! Funny how certain birds make their way from person to person when there are not that many people working with a particular variety. Im so pleased to hear you are staying with Blue Cochins, S.Sue. After seeing some of your big black beauties, I was getting worried you had made the switch. Well, it sounds like a good project and a good way to bring some extra size to the blues. I'm also playing around a bit with color crosses. Its a great learning opportunity!
