Hi Sue, this is for you. I apologize for my absence, be patient a while longer and I will contribute regularly later.
The books you so graciously loaned me about raising sheep have proved invaluable. Without them Id be so much more lost on the subject and I see I have much more to learn yet. Its been quite the experience, I had to face my worst fears for them..and I, or should I say they made it through. The October lambing I was led to believe in never appeared, not till December 27, and it went on through the bitter cold. Of note was a New Years Day lamb which we named Blue, he comes when called now and is very well tempered, I consider him a gift. My shelter where they were born really is a hillbilly setup, good thing I picked up that catalytic heater from Triplej, Im afraid things would have gone terribly wrong without it. I watched close for a long time and was able to catch most of them indoors before they got too cold. One I found looking more like an Ice cube than a lamb, Must have lambed right after late night check, frozen ears and tail but I got him through without losing any important parts, ears are fine now. So far we've had 20, and 2 more left to lamb. Everyone here is hooked on them now, and we are going to try and expand the flock. One of my favorite parts of the day is when I do a late afternoon feed of oats, moms are distracted and the evil little lambs play hard. You are welcome Sue, to come over any time and enjoy this sight with me, but I give you fair warning that these critters are truly evil in their nature, they will make you go OOh and Ahh Arnt they sooo cute, you will want to pet them and feed them and waste precious time doting on them. Dont take my word for it, you just have to see for yourself..Lol

What an experience, Reneggaide! Talk about trial by fire...or maybe ice!

I am so glad you are back in the land of humans again. I will have to come see your evil creatures soon. I am sure my heart will melt- probably due to the hellish nature of their personalities!

Wow, and now you have instilled a need to have lambs, sigh....one day, one fine day, that flock of muscovies, a Jersey milker and some ewes and rams. Nice to hear these things. Have that wonderful day, CynthiaM.
