Family Milk Cow Wanted - Terrace BC

We are looking to find a family milk cow with calf preferably. She must be easy to milk, good personality and not shy around children. My children will be helping me so a cow that is good around them will take precedence over anything else.

I would like for her to be a Jersey or a Jersey cross who gives a good amount of milk. Would also prefer that she is bred back for Spring when I get her (could be to any breed).

This cow will be loved and looked after well, as we will have a nice new barn, a fenced area and 90 acres or pasture. She will be part of the family and would prefer that she came from a similar place and not a factory farm who has no use for her anymore for some reason or another.

There is a lady 2 hours north of fort st john who sells jerseys. She has/had a few for sale this year. I think her farm name is buttercup farms. She had ads in kijiji and in the bargain hunter, but not sure if it is still in them. I will see if I still have the number and then will email it to you if you are interested.

If you need her information I can get it for you. One of my Jerseys came from her. She is a breeder, not a dairy. I also know of a organic dairy in southern AB, but getting him to return calls can be a pain. I dont know of anyone else that has any at this time.

We might have a Jersey/Holstein cross for sale this fall. Just want to make sure she gets bred, then she is able to go. She will be bred to an angus bull. She has been hand milked, machine milked and a nurse cow. Produces awesome calves.
She is a good sized cow, produces a lot of milk, and is very friendly. She has had this year off because our bull decided to only breed half our cows last year so might need a refresher but is super gentle.

Keep me posted Hidden River, though Im not sure how I would ever get a cow from that far away (we dont even have a trailer yet), but im sure we could borrow one when needed. I could sell you a Canadienne and sell you an older gooseneck trailer to haul her home.
It is a long way, but sometimes it is esier to travel than to find what you want/need locally.

Just seen your post today farmchiq...I was talking with this lady last month. I wish I could have taken this heifer. She sounded to be a beautiful cow. Problem was she had never calved before, making her a first time milker, and me a first time milker. I was worried I wouldn't be able to train her, knowing nothing myself! Now that I have a cow I am confident I could have...and wish I still could take her some how. But its a 15 hour drive to where she is for me and I dont have a trailer to haul her anyways...or a barn to store her in for the winter until our big beautiful barn is finished. Sigh.
