Is there a specific color for leg color for the silver laced wyandotte? I have yet to purchase my standards book, but am looking at my birds and have noticed I have some that have yellow legs and some with white, so would like to know which ones to cull right away. Thanks

The shanks and toes should be yellow. I am quoting my 2001 American Standard of Perfection.

Someone else might have something to say about white shanks. Maybe they change. I have no idea about much, which is why I bought the book. geek

The legs should be a good yellow. Sometimes mature females who are laying heavy will fade in leg color but they will still be yellow.
Also the undercolor of the feathers should be slate.
If I were breeding any white legged ones would be gone and not to other homes except as maybe laying hens and the white legged males in the pot, but I have never had the color so perhaps Rico would be better to comment as he has SLW. Leg color is a very inherited trait, which is why in my opinion they would have no place in a breeding pen.

That is one of the reasons I wanted to know!! Any that are not proper colored legs, and good size and lacing will be soup! I am hoping to get a nice group, and would like to stay within standards! Thanks for the help! I may post pics later on for help on choosing the best of the ones I have.

Oh I have to say something, I thought you said "I am hoping to get a nice soup" (I read it wrong) and had to re-read it. It made me laugh because you said "group" not "soup". Well, you may get a nice soup too, smiling. Good luck. Leg colour is very important as Viczoe said. Have a beautiful and awesome day, CynthiaM.
