I'm a member of Cochins International and recently they held an online Cochin show. Any members wanting to enter birds had to complete the entry form and send in pictures of the required poses and specific shots of head, wing etc.
I thought this was an awesome idea. I would not normally have a chance to compare my birds to those being shown throughout the states. A very qualified poultry judge and breeder of Cochins, Jamie Matts did the judging and provided some helpful feedback on the birds. There are limitations to an online show of course as pictures only tell part of the story. But I think he did a great job with what he had to work with, and this show offered good comparisons amongst the birds.
Mine is the the only Large Fowl (entry #2, Buff Pullet about half way down). I was disappointed no one else entered large Cochins, but that is pretty typical these days. Those big birds are expensive to feed and take a lot of room to keep.
Oh well, maybe next time there will be more entries!
