OK why on Christmas day are we taking time to be here on the forum? Do we have nothing better to do? Are our lives so empty we sit blindly staring at the screen hoping something intertesting will show up? Thats what Iam doing, how about you? Had breakfast, did chores, and to early to take a nap. No where to go, and don't want to bother those that do have something to do.

Need a little sanity amongst the gift opening, sugar and cooking dinner. Smile

It's a brief downtime. Cooking started yesterday. Today after opening gifts, the cleaning is underway and the do-list is being checked off. One eye on the clock because this all has to be ready to go at just the right time. For me, Christmas dinner with guests is several LARGE tasks with 7000 smaller tasks tripping me up. I stop here for a quick view because otherwise, mental overwhelming fatigue is going to finish me before anyone arrives for dinner.

Some people manage this without a drop of sweat or blink of the eye. Not me. This is like strategic military manouvers. One wrong step and we are in trouble!

HOpe you have a relaxing day Lazyfarmer, have a chuckle at those of us scurrying around like mice!

My girls are coming later(only the four of us, no mates or grandchildren). Turkey and ham in oven, potatoes peeled, carrots done, dressing in crock pot, table set, not sure when girls will get here. I always wanted lots of 'confusion' as by brother has, and they would trade with me!!!
Chores are done, no frozen waterers (great Christmas present, we are going to dig it up next year and find out WHY it freezes) Our longhorns are bedded and well fed, the barn cats got their gift of liver out of the freezer.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and the greatest year for everyone in the new year.

Just checking in and nice to see some people posting today. We are inbetween. Had 3 days of travel, home for the kids to open presents then off again to the city for the last family function tonight.
Coming to the forum is really a break from it all, as was said spent time with family now to check on a few friends.
Smile
Merry Christmas Everyone.

Spent the earlier part of the day with my Dad in the hospital then our family, brother, sisters and nephews ate out for Christmas dinner. Came home to find our German Shepherd dog who has come in heat attracting a hound dog who, while waiting patiently in hopes that she will slip outdoors, decided to take my chickens for a spin. Several with missing tail feathers and one still missing. Spent the last hour searching out hidden chickens to get them safely back into their pen. Been a very different Christmas here!!! We are waiting to open gifts until after Dad makes in home from the hospital (hopefully) He spent His 93rd birthday and Christmas there and is quite weak and frail. Been fighting a bad infection which was resistant to the antibiotic he was first on. So I had to stop and visit this site just to get some normalcy back into my day. Hope you all had a good Christmas.

Oh, and didn't mention that our GS shepherd did escape at one point during all this and was trying to make a getaway with Mr. Hound. Yikes!! I caught up to them next door and managed to get her back before any harm seemed to take place. She's just over a year old so we do not want to breed her this year at all and definitely not to Mr. Hound. Phew! What a day!

Chickens and ducks are fed, turkey is in the oven. It's raining really hard and I am sitting by the wood stove and just relaxing. Our friend brought over his 1955 Silver Ghost Rolls Royce yesterday and took hubby and I for a spin. It was fabulous. I love going to IGA in a Silver Ghost..tried to post pictures but can't quite figure out the new Photobucket ap. Anyone else know how? Anyway, I really enjoy reading the forum, and yes, I have lots to do, but this is the most relaxing.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

I've checked in a few times today. We are fortunate to have all of my wife's family home for Christmas. This is our first Christmas with the new house 20 feet away from our house. We hosted breakfast in our house this morning serving Sue's Caramel French and Eggs Benedict. Supper is more of a combined effort as the stuffing was made here, but the ham (our own pigs) and turkey are being cooked in the new house. The scallop potatoes are being cooked here.

The weather is pleasant, but we have a huge amount of snow. Our snow related power outages seem to be over for now. A power surge did some damage here and we have a repair coming up this week and had to buy a new set of Christmas tree lights.

Travel seems to be difficult with Greyhound as our daughter arrived here early and without any trouble, but will need to stay an extra day and fly back to Vancouver rather than taking the bus.

Well all is well and the day is finally over for us. We started last night and then had lunch for my three children and families that are here. Skyped for a few minutes to watch two of the four grandchildren that live away open their presents. Nothing like watching children open gifts. The other two are at the other parents' places for Christmas this year. Miss those two but what can one do. Next year is my Christmas with my oldest grandson, one that's at his Mom's this Christmas. So it might be that I get all the kids home for Christmas next year. Now time to relax. Hope for those who celebrated it was a Merry Christmas.

It has been a nice quiet day spent in front of the tv watching the Doctor Who marathon on Space. I cooked most of the Christmas food on the 24 so all I do today is heat up what we need.

Our kids are our chickens and cat. No family to speak of. Bought my cat a $13.00 cardboard cat toy she can lay in and run her nails over. She loves it! Spent Christmas Eve on the sofa with the husband and my polish chickens Bradley and Buffy nested by our sides fast asleep.

Best Christmas ever =)

Just crawled into bed with the iPad. It was a busy day driving to Edmonton, eating my parent's fabulous cooking and driving home. The only spawn in the bunch was a little sick and he was quiet and mannerly. Three hours driving for a six hour visit.

Oh! I saw Arcticsun at her house and the CUTEST little knit outfit for her new nephew. I think a member made it for Arctic. Arctic also had two humongous frozen turkeys and was looking for a bandsaw.

Having said all that I have cleaned ALL the decorations up already and my house is back to normal. Just in time for the in-laws to come up and spend the night Shocked crap ! Oh well I get to cook a big ol ham (that I grew, brags) with homeade scalloped spuds and some fresh veggies and dip. cheers
