Yesterday i decided to do the evening feeding at 4 pm instead of 5, not sure why. Well i jump on the quad and head to the barn.

In front of the hen house there are some feathers..hmmm ok that doesnt look good but who got eaten, could it be a duck or what. Walk over the the gate where the horses are and i see scratches in the snow and tons of turkey tail feathers, it looked like the turkey put up quite the fight. Dog goes running after the scent and i go into the quonset to see if i can find the carcass...nothing. Upon further investigation i realize it is the turkey with half a top beak that is missing...poor boy. He eats out of the bucket before i feed anyone else because of the beak.

I fill up my buckets with feed, set them on the ground to lock the feed area...turn around and there he is eating out of the bucket. The poor tom has not 1 tail feather left but is alive with no injuries Shocked So i grab him and give him a big hug (against his wishes). Dog comes back and turkey won't go near him as he is really scared. I think i must of scared the coyote off when i went up there with the quad.

It was that turkeys lucky day yesterday! Laughing

One lucky turkey, it is amazing how they can just drop their feathers to get free.
