In keeping with the holiday, true stories (so far as I was told)...

There was a house where I'm from that was supposed to be haunted by a woman who had lived there. A young family had moved in and one night odd things were happening. The wife was out and the husband could hear someone walking around downstairs. He ended up locking himself in the bedroom where their daughter was sleeping and waiting for his wife to come home.

A cousin of my mother's was living in a house that she was certain was haunted. She would sometimes see a sort of glowing ball hovering in the air. She wasn't scared of it and thought that it was quite friendly. Problem was, her husband didn't believe her. She would see it and point it out but it would zip through a door when he turned around.

One night they were in bed and he said, 'You forgot to put the cat out."
"No, I didn't."
"Yes you did. It's on the bed, I can feel it on my legs."
"I'm telling you the cat is in the garage."
Husband sat up. Then laid back down.
"Well?"
"Nothing, I'm going to sleep."

You want true stories? I will share one and all I can say is thank goodness we are mostly unknown to each other because this is not a story that gives me particular pleasure, but I will share it anyway. It would be filed under , Way Too Creepy!

I had left my small town to find my fortune in the big city of Edmonton, but after several weeks of nothing much happening, I came home. My cousin David drove me home and we had a great trip. It was halloween evening when we rolled into town and I knew where all my pals would be hanging out, so we dumped off our luggage and went off to a party somewhere.

I had a great time showing off my crazy cousin Dave and it was late when we made our way home. It was a full moon and crazy bright, so much moonlight it left long shadows. As we pulled into the driveway, his headlights lit up something laying on the edge of the lawn. We walked over to look and it was a dead cat. I was upset at the thought that someone's family pet had been run over and asked David to move it to the other side of the road. Dutifully he picked it up as I tried not to look.

"Uh....it's for you," he said.
"What!? What are you talking about, we don't have a cat!"
"There's a note on the cat, and it's addressed to you."

Sure enough, nailed to the head of this cat was a small folded piece of paper and it was a poem. A crazy, deranged, freaky, vaguely threatening poem. It was unsigned, but I knew exactly who had sent it. I didn't sleep well that night and shortly after this horrible incident I confronted said person and told him if he had killed the cat I was going to the RCMP or beating him to death with a stick myself. He assured me the cat was dead when he found it, that's why there was no blood on the note. It was dead when he hammered a nail into its head and threw it on my lawn for me to find.

He and I never spoke again. It was one of the most disturbing things that ever happened and my cousin still has the note in a scrap book and tells people he was there the Halloween night that someone sent his cousin a poem nailed to the head of a dead cat.

Very spooky.

I went for a walk with my son last night and saw Spiderman!

He was much shorter than I expected.

Plus he was wearing a winter coat. You never see that in the movies!
