Wondering what everyone thinks of a regular sale, in southern alberta?

Picture Butte has their every saturday auction, what about a every 2nd, 3rd .... (some regular time) sale... it wouldn't be an auction - unless demand was there? But get something started, there wouldn't be much advertising done by me for each individual sale, but a general advertising "spree" that gets the word out. I know in eastern canada the regular tailgate sales go over well, this would be the same type of thing at first. If I was to hold it at my place, it would most likely interfere with my regular spring sale... But we should try to get something figured out, because who knows how long picture butte is going to last, and really; the prices and buyers just aren't there.

Thoughts....

I agree Ty, I think a regular sale is a great Idea. People would get used to it and the less advertising would be needed, as long as it was held at the same time each month over the summer.
Not sure where would be a good place though to do it, would need a big parking lot that doesnt cost money or very little to use.
I would be in for it for sure.

Yeah and it would be even better if I/we could find a building, because during the spring/summer, the weather never cooperates. I would do it at our place, but I wonder if it would interfere with the sale? Also, the family might not be to convinced lol.

Jayme - sent you an email also

Great "Thoughts" Ty! Very Happy

I know that PB Auction Market is for sale, no idea how that will turn out.
I don't think this area (Picture Butte/Fort Macleod) is the right place, as you said
"the prices and buyers aren't just there."
It would be nice to have something around Claresholm/Nanton. It's still in the south,
but it may also draw people from High River, Okotoks, Calgary...
Now to find a good place....... scratch

Ty I am not sure how it would affect your sale, might be better in the end to do a monthly sale at your place, reduce the advertising costs for your big sale by having flyers and such for the "big event" at the smaller sales.
I emailed you about some options as well.
I was wondering how it would go to have these "tailgate" sales all around southern alberta to draw from different areas, and kind of use them as advertising for the larger sales that have started to become a regular thing? Like one in the Lethbridge area, one in Medicine Hat, then you larger one.

I like the idea of having a regular sale in a regular building in a regular spot as well, but that might saturate an area, by moving it around a bit it will catch different people that do not want to travel too far. And will give a few "new buyers" a taste of what a market sale is and maybe get them interested in attending the larger sales?

The biggest issue is people are drawn to the auction, they get "auction fever, looking for great deals", and those die hards are not going to be swayed easily...
