Not last night, but the night before it did. Not very pleasant out the last couple of days.

Not looking like the 3rd day of spring in any part of the country right now. Snowman
Maybe on Vancouver Island?

I am wondering if we are coming into the last kick at winter and then a turn to too hot to quickly. I hope not. It is curious to see how the weather is going these days. I am also concerned about another very wet spring, it seems to be the course the last couple of years. But whatever happens it is nice to see the light at the end of tunnel and winter behind us more or less.

It's been a unique winter here. I"ve lived here right beside the river for 11 years, and this is the very first year that the ice has jammed up in the river right in front of the house. We thought it might be an issue for awhile (flooding potential) but it appears to be settling down and a crack opening up for drainage.

Um. Does 15 cm still count as "a dusting"? Just -3C thank goodness and snow is stuck of all the tree branches and piled up on fence rails. Very pretty and if it is 15 here it will be much more up the mountain, banking water for summer we trust. No complaints here! We've had so little snow this winter... just a lot of cold.

No...15 cm does NOT classify as a "dusting"...sheesh!  Very Happy  You are right though, we shouldn't complain, we will indeed need the moisture! Apparently in the hills above Smithers, the snowpack right now is much the same as last year.

This will help - last I checked we were frighteningly low on the snow pack. Amazing when you think how relatively close we are (as the crow flies) how different the weather. Smithers is almost always warmer and wetter than we are - you'd think you were further south.

we got a sprinkle. last couple mornings it has been -10 but at some point in the day we are above zero and every day a little more seems to disappear. After thinking about it, and reading your posts I've decided I'm not complaining, we are always a dry dusty place by the time autumn returns so it can do this and we can have a little extra moisture in the ground. Hope you all get enough snow in the hills for your summer water needs. And, like you say BCKev, the light is at the end of the tunnel so my spirits are buoyant. My worst issue is the dang skunk who is trying to have himself/herself a nice chicken dinner - keeps digging holes in front of the coop door in the barn. Somehow manages to eat the food out of the live trap and not get caught, sheister! that dude is tenacious indeed.

Funny Farmer Bob, after our last exchange on the tomato seeds post you said about your septic making itself known, like they can do at this time of the year. Next day ours did the same. I came home to a traumatised teenage boy who could not manage to get the toilet to clear. Happily our neighbor had a snake thingie that can go several feet (up to four) along the tubes and we managed to shift the block but in the course of investigating found that we needed the septic emptied and it has been - nothing like septic experiences to get your attention! Everything else gets put on hold until it gets fixed. Spring is a wild time of year for sure. oo. hijack :-(. I am so bad for this.  Rolling Eyes

Stupid septic...I THINK we have it under control now. I finally had to cut into the line to clear it out.

It's actually reasonably nice out here this afternoon. Enough so that I let my chickens out and they wandered around in the corral. There are a few bare spots that they can scratch and pick at.
