Hello all,

At the end of the month, I am doing a trailer trip. Tentative leaving date is 27th. Vancouver Island (Nanaimo) to Edmonton, then Calgary and Lethbridge the next day. Return trip will be about 1 week later. First priority will be to people wanting my Ossabaw piggies, and I have some already coming along. Will have lots of room still for poultry, even sheep or WHY. Poultry can travel up front with me on the trip there. My trailer comfortably fit 5 young sheep.

The trip back I will have room for either small livestock and possibly poultry if they can be in the trailer - I am bringing chickens back already and can't have any extra in the cab. And if I don't have critters in the trailer on the way back, I will consider other items or will load up on some seed for fodder.

My timelines will be tight both directions, so any arrangements to meet will be along the beaten path and I won't be able to wait.

Hopefully I can help out a few of you.

Does anyone around you have saxony ducks or hatching eggs for sale that you could bring to Edmonton?

I found some hens I'm interested in Langley, BC. Would that be on your way? I live south of Edmonton & could meet you either in Edm or along the way if you are heading south.

I could possibly meet up with Ty, birds on the way back will have to be in the trailer as the cab will have my own new recruits.

Langley is on the way if they can meet me at the highway.

I don't have any wyandottes but if you can find some I'm happy to transport them. Smile

I'm assuming you're taking Hwy 1? And your leaving on the 27th correct? Also how much for transportation?

Yes I will be taking Hwy 1, I will be on the first boat out of Nanaimo on the 27th, and I'm asking $20 per box or cage for transport to help with gas for the smaller critters - I still have to figure out what I'm going to tell hubby when I arrive late to pick him up after he's been away at work for 3 weeks...LOL. Smile

I will be headed to 18th street - Sherwood park area.

On the way there I can transport chickens in the front with me.

Did you get the pm I sent you with the contact info? I am not sure it went through because I just noticed my sent items box was full. I am not sure if that matters or not...

Hello, yes I got the message and your eggs will be delivered to me at the ferry terminal so I can pick them up when I drive through to write my exams. Nothing like cramming in a whole bunch of stuff at once! LOL

trip is still on...with one change...I'm not rushing.

I cleared out my schedule for today, just have an item or two do fix up here, and I SHOULD be on the first boat tomorrow as originally planned, so long as my piggies are as easy as the last ones to load up tonight. But the day will be stretched out a little, and if the roads are bad I won't push for Edmonton Thursday night, as I will be getting there very late and would rather pull over somewhere. I hear it's cold, so I'm going to make some little mods to the trailer to keep it warmer, poultry will be upfront, except the goose might have to be in the back...

Please email to confirm your critters and spots. My cell phone doesn't get good reception, and my house phone - well - I have to be in the house and won't be today.

IF you are coming through Banff area and don't have to go through Calgary, you can take the Banff-Jasper highway, turn east at the Saskatchewan River Crossing and head to Rocky Mountain House. From there you can also head to Edmonton, but you will pass my place along the way. There you will find a warm bed, a hot breakfast and whatever else you may need.

If you are taking the Jasper route...we are a little off the beaten path, but you are still more than welcome.

If you can still pick up my 6 hens at the Greater Vancouver Zoo parking lot that would be great!  Approx. what time do you think you'll be there so I can tell the other folks?

I can meet you in Edmonton on Friday or if you are coming south I can meet you too along the way (Leduc) . Whatever works.  Can you PM me your number please?  Thanks!

islandgal99 - If you take up Sue on her offer to stay over night, you can leave her the Dorking Roo you are bringing me. I can pick it up from her as I will be going to her place for coffee and warm smiles on Sunday. Just let me know.

Yes I can, I will be leaving the ferry terminal at about 845, so I think that will put me at the parking lot at about 10? I will mapquest when I am home and get better times. What size containers will they be in? I will pm you.

. I will keep an eye on the weather, and bring extra bedding along for the critters.

I am going the jasper route likely both ways. Thank you for your generous offer.
