Does anybody grow some blue potatoes that are blue all the way through and that stay blue when cooked? I'd love a few seeds, or even a whole seedball if you could spare that much. (seedballs are those hard green fruits at the top of the plant where the flowers were) it is good to wait till the seedballs fall off or at least get soft, so I can wait till that happens...no rush.

We have some of those - I'll talk to my husband the gardener. How are your western redcedar trees doing?

Jocelyn -

He went out and picked three seedheads and extracted the seeds; I've got them drying on paper towels. The plants had already begun to die back, so he's certain the seeds are ripe.
He wondered why you didn't want seed potatoes, and we speculated that there may be some barrier to importing potatoes into PEI. . . is that true?

PM me your address, and I'll pop the seeds in the post for you.

IPF, yes please, I'd love to get some. The cedars are doing REALLY well. They kept coming up in the same flat for 3 years, so I have three age classes and all are doing great. The biggest is taller than me, and there is very little difference in the four seedlots. I think there are a few more of the Albert River ones than the others, but they are all doing famously. Fernie Low is thicker, bigger diameter trunks, but again, not much difference in them all. It will be fun to see how they do long term.

No barrier, just really fun to play with the progeny................well, the barrier is that I would need clean seed, but no total barrier, just can't plant table stock.

Yes, I'll send you a PM

update on those little potatoes from the seedballs....there are 8 or nine from the few seeds I started in a sunny window. Some have really blue stems and will likely have really blue spuds under them when that time comes. 2 have green stems, and might have white flesh...time will tell. All were planted in soil where potato tubers broke down due to blight, and several died...but the remainders are all blight resistant Smile))
I have lots of seeds left, and will be planting more when these ones make tubers and go down. The tiny tubers will need to be in the fridge then and will free up the windowspace for a second crop, happy grin. I have some superior seedballs, if anybody wants some. Superiors are NOT blight resistant, and are self fruitfull, so might not have pollinated with the yukon russets I had that are blight resistant. They also might have, who knows. My Yukon Russets didn't set seedballs. Is anybody growing Island Sunshine? They have good blight resistance, I'd love a few seedballs off of those ones.............
