Just wanted to note that, while very new to the wonderful world of poultry, Alyssa seems to have been blessed with a small flock of very nice "starter" birds. Her Buff Orpington cockerel did very well at the IPE poultry show earning Champion English! He was a last minute substitution when her pullet had an unfortunate run in with a sticky fly strip. I understand the pullet's fluffy bum is not as fluffy after the rescue! I'm sure this win will feed the "crazy chicken lady" addiction that seems to be well underway! Again....Congratulations!

I believe she got her birds from the forum's very own CynthiaM. Congrats to Cynthia too.....it's nice to see your youngsters go out in the world and do well.

Oh geeze, now isn't that just the most wonderful thing to hear? I have not gone yet to the IPE, but will this weekend. Wonder if Alyssa has brought the dude home, or if he is staying for a little while yet, maybe I will have to go there today and see, smiling. Alyssa did buy a starter flock of buff orpingtons from me, a male and a female, of a young age, and two more gals that were a couple of weeks younger. One of the younger ones ended up being a male, sigh...sometimes they are hard to gender, smiling now. She came last week and traded the little male (not the one that one the award at the IPE), for another female of a young age, about 10 weeks old, and another pullet the same age, so she would not be lonely. I know Alyssa was happy with how my birds looked, and she was pleased. I had absolutely no clue that she was taking any to the IPE. Good for Alyssa!! Welcome to the world of poultry fancy, I know you are knew to chickens and am happy that you have had a most wonderful beginnings....yay!! Cherish that acknowledgement, that you too had a part in this, you take beautiful care of your birds, and this can help so much when you want something nice. This is a pat on the back for you and for me. With that, have a most beautiful day, CynthiaM.

I believe the poultry have to stay at the IPE until Sunday evening so everyone can enjoy seeing them. Hopefully there will be pictures soon..... please! I must see this well moisturized, bright comb Fuzzy mentioned. Question
