Yes fall is a good time to sell those started birds once you have sorted.
Guess youll have to start one up there Sue!
The fall sale we have is in a small barn which works fine for this time of year. It is so nice to have the heated indoor one in the spring though when everyone has young stock that need heat.

Are fall sales really that good?

It seems to me everyone is getting rid of extra stock and no one is buying. That's what it is like around here anyway, winter is so cold and feed so expensive that no one wants to overwinter anything but the absolute minimum.

And all those extra roosters...

I don't think you'll be able to sell all your extra roosters at fall sales but I find pullets always sell well and trios if someone wants to set up with a new breed.
Sept seems like a good month to sell still.
I sell more roosters in the spring it seems as people dont winter enough and sometimes lose some.
I can only overwinter so many os but always keep some extras to sel in the spring.

Hi I always do well at the sale in Sept. Its the last big chance to get together and see what people have. Andddddd if people don't sell their roosters I always come home with some free to put in the freezer for the dogs. . So I guess I have a white silkie rooster , 3 barred rock hens , old English owl pigeons and tippler pigeons for sale if anybody is interested.

Yep. That's what it looks like in the central Okanagan too. Everyone is chicken-crazy in the spring, but by this time, everyone is over-run with birds and tired of dealing with the "extras" they can't get rid of. Spring is a much better time for sales, IMO Surprised

I just finished my last order for this year and am already getting orders for the spring. I am curious to see how long the interest in poultry is going to last. It seemed to drop off for a few years but is picking up with a vengeance it seems. With feed costs being so high I do think it is harder to sell in the fall.

I have always sold what I have taken to the sale. I have gotten good prices for my birds because they are in good shape and well cared for. I sold a dark brahma hen for a very good price. She was a beautiful bird but I had no place for her. What a Face cat alien pig monkey confused No cyclops farao santa rendeer albino sunny lol!

Can't do smilies from home even when the puter is working.
