Oh man, look at the size of those little ones!! They are almost half as tall as the parents now. To me it is absolutely shocking how something can grow so fast. Really, it does. Awesome pictures and love how the parents clearly do direct the youth. Have an awesome day, CynthiaM.

OK, so looked back at the date, they were hatched Wed May 8.  That makes them 5 weeks old, approxiimately.  I cannot believe how fast they have grown, seriously!!  They look to be darn near as big as the parents.  How on earth can something grow that fast, a marvel of nature itself.  I see the little wings are looking much bigger now, smiling....love these updates and I am so shocked at the growth rate!  have an awesome day, CynthiaM.

Well, look at those!!  And look at all the new little feathers growing in.  Now those wings are starting to look  more appropriately sized for the size of the body, beautiful.  I can't get over how fast they grow!!  Have an awesome day, CynthiaM.

so just for giggles, I figured I would as my local FEED store about the waterfowl starter and I was told the same thing.  "OH NO, you just feed them the non-medicated chicks starter, its the SAME THING"  of course I stood there with a confused look on my face, as even though its been three years for me owning waterfowl (was a sad day when I downsized my livestock)  even then I remember feeding a waterfowl starter/grower/etc....   So I even said, well it has a different protein level? how can you just feed them chick starter?  "well then I guess you could feed them a pullet grower, as it would be closer to the protein level"   scratch   I shook my head, confused, carried on with the purchase I had gone in there for....  (I might have been wrong on the protein levels though, I could of sworn that chicks were started on 20 and geese were 18?  regardless.... even the grain ratio would be different for the two species wouldnt it, if nothing else??)

as I am hoping to rebuild my goose-goose stock this year, I am going to have to source a local (hopefully) place that sells  waterfowl starter and grower-- just keep a couple bags on hand  Smile

Oh my goodness Tara, you know many of us enjoy that view from your shoes, really, we do.  thanks for the view, smiling.  I looked at the picture of the two goslings side by side, and of course immediately noticed the more developed flight feathers on the one, the male, as you said, I did wonder who developed first, but then read your caption.  Nice.  Beautiful, beautiful wee, not so wee, goslings.  Still amazing.....

Oh that Fixins.  Gotta laugh at the narrations and the look on the pooches face in each picture.  How that look changed, from anticipation to asking to desiring to being complacent about the fact, that "no" you can't have good dinner. Would have been very tender, but nope.  By the way, do you eat the geese?  Wonder about that.  The only goose I have ever seen prepared was back on the coast.  Sister had gone and got some geese from the auction.  Gordon only knows hold old those geese were, but they were prepared after a few months for the dinner table (her house, not mine).  Oh man, oh man.  I don't think they ended up eating them.  Think they must have been old as the very hills and dirt itself, pounds and layers of fat that would make your head swim.  Ich.  I still remember that episode.  She thought that some cheap geese would feed her big family.  Guaranteed, after she had done some work, she decided that the goose was unfit for the table.  The other one was sold to an Asian couple that loved fat geese, smiling.  Gick.  Tell me about your experience with eating goose (if you do), is the meat nice?  Fatty?  Liken it to other type of fowl please, I would just like to know.  And you know me, it's all about me :Phave beautiful days, CynthiaM.

Man, they grow fast don't they?
I have had goose.  I had a boy friend, when I was younger, that was Dutch and his mom made goose for one Christmas.  It was very good, but I do remember it being a bit greasy.  I think it is all in the way you cook it.

Beautiful, boy are those little ones not so little anymore. I am still shocked at how fast they grow. Whatcha gonna do with them all? Oh so soft. I can't imagine what the body of those birds must feel like, oh so soft, squishy feeling still I would bet. Thanks for taking the time to show us the update, Tara, have that incredible day, CynthiaM.
