Finished my project today and i am thrilled with it. The minute i seen the material that my swap buddy sent i thought...Sun Hat!
This is the first time i have ever used interfacing and it was very easy. I will wear my sun hat proudly every day i am outside this summer, when it is sunny and i am not cleaning a coop Very Happy .
Thank you so much Pat for the beautiful material.

Oh my Gordon! That is simply amazing! We have a milliner in our midst. Who knew! I would never have undertaken such a project, circles and round shapes scare me to death, this is why I'm a quilter, because I can't sew! I am blown away.

Wow that is a very summery hat PC, nice to remind us summer is coming! It looks good Smile

I finished piecing the top of my fabric swap project...not sure
what I will turn it into but I like it so far!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Had a bit of a surprise on the tips of my points, maybe some more experienced quilters can tell me what happened here but I still like the effect! (and I was out of fabric!)
Because I dont like to follow instructions I kind of "winged" this...I started with strips, sewed two star strips on each side of 1 angel.
Then cut them into squares
Sandwiched the squares together and sewed all round the edges. Then cut diagonally across both ways and that is what i got!
Lots of fun, thanks guys!
Heres another quilt square I played around with while I waited impatiently to get started on my proper fabric swap project:

I started off thinking kites in the sky then surprise surprise it turned into the sun.

ANd heres a chicken themed one I have to share:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
It started out with the centre as a potholder but hten I went and ironed it and there wasnt a lot of filling left in there so into the centre it went
I think it will become a wall hanging.

Amazing! All I can say is amazing! I thought your smaller triangles were a purposeful design. NEVER EVER ADMIT A MISTAKE! Quilters do not make mistakes. They make original and unique design deviations. Repeat after me, design deviation, all your own! I think it looks great.

Brahma Chick! You snuck another piece of fabric in there! I hadn't unfolded that chicken fabric until just now and there, folded with it, was yet another piece of fabric! Now I am even more in awe of your envelope stuffing abilities! Thank you...at least I hope you realize you sent me 4 pieces of fabric!?

Wow! I love all of your projects! Do you have an easy idea for a beginner crafter? I don't know what to do!

I think you should try a chicken saddle, what the heck, maybe use jean on one side. Perhaps a pot holder? Or maybe this site will give you some ideas [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

When I opened my package from Brahma chick, this is what I found.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

But then when I unfolded the chicken fabric to press it, nestled inside it was a fourth piece of fabric! The striped fabric in this block is courtesy of Brahma Chick. Thank you Brahma Chick for these cheery prints that make me think of Easter and Spring.

Not complete yet, but I'm going to fill it with insulated batting and use it as a hot mat for my iron. I keep setting that hot iron face down on my plastic shelf. Bad! A hot mat is just the thing I need! Will post more pics when complete. Thank you again Brahma Chick!

THis is not a very intersting project, but one I sure needed. I used the chicken fabric on the back..not that it matches but provides a change of tone when I flip the mat over. Note silver batting to prevent heat. I still don't plan on setting my hot iron face down while plugged in..but sometimes I place the iron, HOT face down on the plastic shelf. Not a good idea!

Very cute Uno!!

Here's my fabric swap project: a neat little fabric bucket. I wanted to make something that was for ME, so this is what I chose. I managed to use up most of the striped bird fabric (so pretty!) but I have some of the darker floral one still left to use in something else. It might make its way into another bucket.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I used the darker fabric for the bottoms (inside and outside).

Possibly for eggs in the future, for now, it can hold random stuff. I am going to make a few more to hold toys etc. - we always need containers for those!

I used a double layer of flannel on the inside - recycled receiving blankets that I don't need anymore.
