My girls are laying up a storm! I don't have any orders for these eggs yet so I will have them available weekly for shipping or pick up. Up to 2 doz per week!

The silver sussex flock was one of our favorite flocks from 2012. The hens are prolific layers, very calm and docile but still friendly. The roosters are very large and very friendly, and grow to a good size the fastest out of all our breeds making them ideal heritage meat birds (not to be compared with hatchery 'meat birds', but they grew beautifully). They are a wonderful addition to any farm yard, and are a great choice for someone just starting out or looking for a few birds for eggs!

$35/doz + $5 shipping/packaging - ONLY AVAILABLE UNTIL APRIL 1!

What a pretty flock! I've wondered about the origin of the Silver Sussex. Its kind of a unique color, isn't it? Not like speckled or mottled. I wonder if this is a variation of the silver laced color, as some feathers do seem to have some lacing.
Its nice to know they are not just pretty and they lay well too!

To be honest Kathy these ladies are too gaily colored for the most part. They are meant to be basically the opposite of the Light Sussex, so all the extra white on their chests isn't as desirable, but the rooster is great Smile They are a really nice flock and I'm very happy with them. Also happy to say these eggs are sold! Smile

Silver Birchen is the colour. They are a very pretty bird. As Briar says, a bit 'gay' in colour. Neck silver with upper breast marked with a fine lacing is ideal. A very pretty and functional work in progress.

Thanks for the clarification on their "real" color Coop! I was so tired yesterday I'm sure I didn't make much sense.

They are little wonder hens though. From yesterday afternoon to today I've got 6 eggs from them. They are getting zero extra lighting and no heat and they are still little troopers. Love them. I love you
