Due to unforseen circumstances I am looking for a great home for Brenda, my Jersey family milk cow. She is 4 yrs old, bred to a purebred Jersey bull, due April 18th. She is currently milking but will need to be dried up come February. Her milk amount fluctuates day to day as she has a 3 month calf at her side who sneaks his head through the fence whenever possible for a drink. If he were out of the picture Im guessing she would milk 2 gallons a day (we are only milking her once a day currently as calf gets the morning milk. She is halter broke, polite, comes when called and is otherwise a personable cow. She is thinner than she should be and will require very nutritious hay and extra grain to build her back up to tip top shape ,she is, however, a picky eater and turns her nose up at dry course hay (part of the reason she lost some weight here). If you may be interested in Brenda please email me. I will be choosy when it comes to Brenda's new home, and she would need to be picked up as we are unable to transport her. Thank you.
I am asking $2000...that is what I paid for her and a newborn steer...plus a hefty transport fee of nearly $500 so Im just trying to recover as much as I can. Located in Terrace BC

Thanks

Jaclyn

If it was not for the distance I would have been interested. I sold most of my jersey crosses when our water turned bad but we are in the process of trenching in new water and I have my heart on another purebred jersey, of course they all seem to be in BC. Sad
Sorry you have to rehome your new cow, hopefully you find her a very nice home.

Sorry...I should take the ad down for now. The place she was boarding turned into a deep mud pit and right before she came to live at my place she must have got bacteria in one of her teats and now I am having to treat her for mastitis in it.
For future reference though I dont think she is registered (I would get papers or something if she was, right?)
I do have pictures, but now that she has mastitis I wont sell her yet at least until its cleared up,m and then depending on the time of year, I am better off waiting to see if her baby is a heifer or bull calf come April. As far as I was told she has never has mastitis or other illness in the past so I am assuming this is an isolated incident and only due to all the mud she had to wade through to get to the field in her last home.
