Tomorrow, July 31st, is our 3rd show of the season.

The show events start at 9AM. There is a brief break for lunch usually in the 1PM range, while we set up for games.

Games start after the break, and continue until all participants have run. Usually in the 5PM range.

We have bleachers for spectators, tables and chairs for eating, a concession, and a 50/50 raffle for those interested.

This is Vancouver Island's only remaining full Western Club, and has been in operation since the early 60's.

The grounds are located on Gibbins road in Duncan (past the hospital). We have a large sandwich board out front marking the location on the VIMY grounds behind the VIMY Hall.

Hats off to all the people, such as yourself Hillbilly, who show up and work tirelessly to make these events come off. I happen to know you put in many volunteer hours with work projects so local riders have a place to go and things to do. I hope you get a great turn out and the weather is on your side. Hope you all have a great day!

Thank you Uno. Most people don't realize the rigorous work involved in any non profit organization. I was there last night installing a new toilet tank on the already new toilet that turned out to be defective.

This show was, by far, our best one yet that I have been involved in. We had over 40 entrants travelling from all over the Island (some travelled 3+ hours to get here with a trailer full of horses, and a truck full of kids).

The smiles were plenty, and the highlight for me was watching a 4 year old girl doing games on a horse that was 16+ hands high.

The weather cooperated, and was sunny, but not outrageously hot, as can be for our July long weekend shows.

I'm dusty, and beat...but still smiling.

So glad the club is going strong. I've been trying for too many years to make it to one. One day....

You should come watch the next one. Keep in mind, the Cowichan Feather Fanciers poultry swap at Buckerfields is usually the same day, so you could take in both while visiting Duncan!
