This sale was great, had a lot of great people stop by my booth. Left with just a few bantam roosters and a pocket of money.
I was very good about not buying anything...BUT one Australian spotted hen.
My girls on the other hand bought some chicks off Kathy, some call ducklings that were a special delivery and some Tupperware, LOL.
We are spending another night in Red Deer since this is our family holiday for the year, swimming and relaxing after the VERY busy day.
It was great to meet so many people off this site and others I have talked to in the past. Although I am wondering where the party is tonight??? Smile
The response of the people definately was a positive one, lots of people out there not liking the auctions lately. These are definately the sales of the future.

What an Awesome Event! Great job Three Old Hens! Met tons more people, everyone looked like they sold lots! It was a busy mad scramble all morning once the afternoon hit there was a little time here and there to slip over and have a quick chat between breeders. I came home with lots of eggs and a Lavender d'Uccle pullet!

Someone remind me why we had to bring chairs again?!?! Never had a moment to sit down, got to see so many great poultry friends, and meet some new ones. Huge thanks to Wyondotte and her daughter, also to Barnyardcrittersjr. and his Mom, she was a huge help. Never could have managed the sale alone.
Was worried about bringing so many tomato plants, but by the end think I had sold, or gave away over half of what I brought. Also came home with a few roosters, but sold out of everything else I brought. Came home with six cornish meat birds from triple j, lovely bird house from Shelby, and some tupperware that I bought the night before. Bud bought me four Rooster place matts, wow they are beautiful.
I think one of the great things is the contact we make with people, handing out business cards, (thanks to Wyondottes daughter) now keeps me doing more business all year long.
I had a couple come all the way from Manitoba to buy hatching eggs from me, they were doing a trip to Banff and decided to come to the sale.
Wow, credit goes out to all of you guys that travel from so far away, only had a quick run around at the end, but sounded like you all did pretty good.
I thought the vet talk was very interesting and would love to see more people attend if she has another one. Easy lady to talk to and gave us all some great advice.
The three old hens are to be commended on a job well done, bet they were pooped last night. Now when is the next sale?

It was a great experience for a first-time seller at a poultry sale like this. Very Happy I'd do it again in a minute.
You ladies organizing did a fantastic job! I heard so many positive comments from the public. Many were brand-new to the whole poultry idea and were just looking and asking lots of questions about the different breeds. I think it was a great venue for promoting heritage breeds and creating interest, as well as selling lots of birds.
And one of the best parts was meeting lots of you fellow bird enthusiasts!

Sold out of birds by about 3, if I had more available I would have brought more. Got home at 11 that night. We did bring some birds home including some I was not expecting to get a backwards trio of black old english games from Rico. The hen layed an egg on the way back home. I got to meet some new people and talked to old friends. A great time.

I sold a duck and came home with a great Favorelle roo from Hidden River and a pair of Emden geese. boy are THEY loud! Also some great plants from Chickies Mom and Johhny Anvil. The goats were on the lam and ate a few but I think they should still grow. A great sale. Next year, I'll have some lovely Light Sussex and more! Maybe goslings!

Good luck with your stock and hope to run into you again at one of these dos!

Thanks for the lovely tomato plants chickeesmom! and the little alpine plant?
We will plant them carefully and hope to get some for tomato sandwiches this summer!!

We were sold out early, could have brought more but we wouldn't have room to have brought it, we were prettty tight fitting as it was.
Thanks to HR and her helpful hubby for hauling stuff home for us (once again!)
Our eyes are always bigger than our truck it seems....

Great production by Liz and Shannon, Sue and all the others....
Thanks for putting it on for all of us! cheers cheers

Was a great sale, wish I had more time to visit! A huge thanks to the group for getting this together - it has been the best yet!
Sold out 75% of what we took - came home with very little as there was NO time to shop.
Pops coops - little Jade and Sandman have settled in well and are doing great. Jade spends more time on my son then in her cage! She has really taken to the seeds more then that other stuff that smells so great and she won't eat the soft food in the morning anymore as she dives into her seeds for breakfast but she does like a warm bedtime snack.
A big thanks to c.botkin as well for the supplies he brought out and the rooster as well as the sponsership on the show - the incubator my son won is already full of call duck eggs.

Marsha that is great you son won, I was wondering who won the incubator.
I would like to thank Clayton as well for the "gift" you brought out for me to buy for my daughter (she reads this so cant say what), and for putting up with my hubbys sarcasm all weekend. Neutral
The Three Red Hens you did a wonderful job of getting the public aware and out for the weekend. It was a zoo but that is the way it needs to be to get stuff sold.
The vet talk was cut short because people were still unloading at 6 pm, just so hard to get everything co ordinated on a set up night, but Colleen did very well and is very much trying to get a Webenar set up for some upcoming topics so even those far away can take part.
The information on ILT was great, I definately will keep up my vaccines on my birds, some very good points made by her.

Wish we could have dropped in on the chat but got there to late and had way to much to do before 10pm!
Mom is tickled pink with her silkies from you Hidden and the Saxony's are fitting in well but the drake from you is a little miffed as he only has one girl and my other drake has 2!
Dad is already asking about the next one..........

Yes I bet he is miffed. I forgot to tell you but you probably figured it out that the hen with the pink band is "his hen" and fertility has improved greatly since I told you about the problem before, so you should have some babies in her eggs if you set them right now from him.
Glad they are doing well.
Hey I wanted to ask, the silkie that won is that one from us? What color was she? Amy just wanted to know. I was so busy I never got to look at them all and see who was who and from where. I bet your boy is so excited. Glad your mom likes the silkies. Smile
Your little Aussie spot hen is fitting in well, they never had any issues accepting her, so glad ducks are so much better to introduce than darn chickens....

The hen that won are from Mom and his first hatch last year from stock from Ideal I think - the winning hen is a partridge hen and the other one is a partridge pullet from Dec hatch. The blue pair from you the hen is broody and wanted nothing to do with getting ready to show!
