Hi all,

Has anyone crossed a RIR roo with Ancona hens? Was the result autosexing? Really hope it is, but would like to know before trying it out.

Thanks so much.

It would depend on if the ancona is a silver carrier. But as they are basically a black bird genetically, while the offspring may theoretically be sex linked, the difference between a black bird with a silver base and one with a gold base at hatching is not evident.

So in short, no not a cross that would produce a sec link. A rhode island red cock bird on a white or silver leghorn hen would work though if you are wanting a light egg layer.
