So...remember those ducklings that I hatched out under a hen?  They are 10 weeks old now...and a tad confused...they are quite sure that any hen they see must be "mother".

Oh for crying out loud, now if that is not just plain and simply cute! Ducks imprint when hatched. Whatever they see and are raised with, they think they are. This could be a very funny thing. I remember when we raised muscovy ducks, by the hundreds, my niece took a clutch once. Those little muscoveys certainly thought she was mamma for so long, til they grew up, then they became mammas themselves (and pappas too I guess). They followed her everywhere and loved her. Funny how chickens don't do this imprinting like ducks do. Beautiful picture. Have a beautiful day, CynthiaM.
