I wanted to do a little showing off this morning of one of my up and coming breeders for this season.  He will have his own coop with 5 girls, which are coming up to point of lay.  This is a product of the late 2014 breeding offspring.  Yep, this is an achievement, to have that even buff shade throughout the feathers.  Careful selection has been making things nicer and nicer in the lines. As I said, 2016 watch out, gonna be a year of rockin' beautiful buff orpingtons, beautiful in all ways, type, temperament, health and beauty, along with great mothering and laying egg capabilities, and table food quality....all what those heritage breed birds should be.  No black peppering or feathers in the tail, make it even better

Feeling pretty good with colour achievement on some of my buff orpingtons. This 30 week old fellow has that nice even shade of buff, with not the light buff colour. His shanks are like tree trunks. Good to hold up the heavy frame he will have. He is a keeper I’m hoping and I am glad I kept him as I could see good potential as he was growing. Comb is far from good, but we must choose our battles. His colouring makes up for his comb. He will be with 5 girls of the same even shade of buff. And next year...look out, hopefully some outstanding 2016 babies coming

I seriously would love to hear comments from anyone that is familiar with breeding buff varieties of chickens, the good, the bad or the ugly.  Have a beautiful day, CynthiaM.

His comb is not that great, but that is another thing I am working on, father had a pretty good comb, not sure why his is not that great, oh well, more to work with, smiling

Nice bum eh?  No black to be seen, but of course I know, there is a possibility that can change, especially after the year old molt, but so far so good, smiling.
