This afternoon my grade 1/2 class came out to my place for a field trip. It was the best time ever! A bunch of city kids on the farm is very entertaining.

We split into four groups of 6 kids and visited four stations. I took them of a tour of the barn where they got to see a duck sitting on a nest of eggs, our eight bottle calves and then feed and ice cream cone full of grain to the goats.

Another station was with my oldest daughter who talked to them bout horse care and let each on have a turn brushing a miniature horse.

My younger daughter showed them our new pot bellied piglet and the chickens in the coop and how and where the eggs are laid.

My son manned the playground center where they played on our play structure and handed out freezies.

The kids had a great time seeing all the things I spent the year telling them about!

I have to respond, because this is just beautiful!! You have given a gift to these children that they will remember for the rest of their life. some children grow up on a farm, with animals, the beautiful way of life, others grow up without even knowing what it feels like to touch a farm animal, I use that term loosely. this is such a most beautiful gift. A shining star you are to have done this, and the participation of your children too, makes me feel so good. I have been blessed in my life, to have grown up amongst the farm type animals, in many ways, as have my children, and I love this. There is just something wonderful about the way of life that people have which have open areas, animals, and the like, versus people living in the concrete jungle, spoken loosely again. some people love this, some people love that, but as said, you have given a gift which will be remembered. Awesome. Have a most beautiful day, CynthiaM.

This will be a treasured memory! What an amazing thing for you and your family to do for these kids.   cheers  I know your students will love being able to visualize your place and all the animals you talk about.
I was a city kid raised by "reformed" former farm kids who hated the country life.  Summer vacation at my Aunt and Uncle's farm was a great treat and the source of many of my favorite childhood memories.

Very Happy What a lovely thing to do! I bet the children were just thrilled. You may have even inspired little farmers to be.  cheers Field Trip 931874130

They we're pretty grossed out whenever something took a pee. And actually, watching the parent helpers was pretty entertaining too!
